Report: Paratici readying Italy raid for ‘very impressive’ player likened to Kante, can also play LB and RB

With the Premier League grinding to a halt for the World Cup, Tottenham Hotspur can take stock and plan for the January transfer window.

Spurs could certainly do with some first-team reinforcements. However, there’s always scope to seek out promising youngsters to develop into key assets.

A report from  has now suggested that Tottenham have set their sights on two players from Italy’s second tier.

According to the outlet – via  – Spurs are eyeing Genoa duo Morten Frendrup and Radu Dragusin.

Fabio Paratici’s ‘intention’ is to bring Dragusin and Frendrup to London, claimed the report.

He sees the break for the World Cup as a potential ‘right occasion’ to start talking about deals, added SBN.

Frendrup joined Genoa from Brondby in the January transfer window for €3.7m (around £3.3m).

The 21-year-old has made 25 appearances for the Serie B side, including 15 this term.

Last year, Frendrup made his Denmark Under-21 bow, and he has won 11 caps for his nation at that level.

A midfielder by trade, Frendrup has also played at for Genoa.

With Antonio Conte having had issues at LWB and RWB, Frendrup would tick quite a few boxes for Spurs.

Football Talent Scout Jacek Kulig sung the player’s praises earlier this year on his website.

‘Morten Frendrup is a humble young man, but he is very passionate on a football pitch,’ he .

‘His main strength is his defensive capabilities. His ability to read the game is very impressive, and he will make a lot of interceptions during a game.

‘He is also quite fast, which allows him to often track down his opponents that are looking to create chances.

Kulig also said that ‘Morten Frendrup reminds me of N’Golo Kante.

‘Big comparison, I know, but they share some of the same traits.

‘They are both not the biggest and most intimidating midfielders, but they are both fast, great at reading the game, and they intercept almost everything.

‘Both players are also good dribblers of the ball, and Kante has evolved into a well-rounded midfielder with offensive abilities, which also could become the case with Frendrup.’
