Report: ‘Outstanding’ Arsenal player has now been doing extra sessions after training to improve performances
Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has been doing extra training sessions to improve his all-round game as he prepares to replace Gabriel Jesus.
Jesus got injured at the World Cup and faces a period of months on the sidelines and that has handed Nketiah his big chance.
The report that he has been doing more work after training to get his game closer to Jesus’ level and the Brazilian will be a big miss.
Nketiah may be able to match Jesus’ goal return and pressing, but the Brazilian does plenty in terms of hold up play and bringing others in.

Nketiah has been doing extra training
This is the opportunity that Nketiah has been waiting for since he signed his new contract with the club in the summer transfer window.
He has had to be content with Europa League starts so far, with Jesus always getting the nod in the Premier League thus far.
But if Nketiah can hit the ground running in the frantic festive period, it would help keep Arsenal’s title bid on track.
Any period where he takes time to settle could see the pressure build and increase the calls from some fans to bring in a new forward next month.
It seems more likely that Arsenal would push ahead with a deal to sign a winger as planned, freeing up Gabriel Martinelli to be an alternative central striker until Jesus is back.
One issue with signing another top-class centre-forward now is what to do with them when Jesus is back fit, and another is the message it would send to the ‘outstanding’ Nketiah in terms of his assurances of gametime.
