Report: Nuno ‘personally ended’ Spurs’ interest in £23m-rated talent; London rivals will now sign him
Nuno Espirito Santo was key to Tottenham ending their pursuit for Lyon defender Joachim Andersen.
, the Portuguese manager ‘personally ended’ the north London side’s interest in the Danish international. Andersen was linked with Tottenham following the end of his loan spell with Fulham.
However, as , Crystal Palace are now close to signing the 25-year-old centre-back.

As per the report, the Eagles could pay up to €27m (£23m) for Andersen, who Lyon are eager to sell this summer.
Tottenham are keen to sign a defender this summer. However, as , Cristian Romero is Spurs’ number one target for the position.
Spurs are close to selling Toby Alderweireld. Whilst the futures of Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier are also up in the air. Indeed, it could be a summer of plenty of defensive chance for Tottenham under Nuno.

Yet one player who will not be joining is Andersen. The Dane is close to joining Palace, and with Nuno personally rejecting the notion of signing the defender, the Portuguese coach is seemingly favouring other targets this summer for his new club.
With Romeo a priority for Spurs as well as Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, Nuno and Fabio Paratici are targeting a certain profile of centre-back this window.
With Andersen a different defender compared to the Serie A duo, it’s clear that Tottenham have set their standards.
