Report: Nuno Espirito Santo wants to raid old side Valencia for £35m-rated striker, if he joins Everton
that Nuno Espirito Santo wants to lure Valencia striker Maxi Gomez to Everton, if he joins the Toffees. Santo came close to joining Crystal Palace earlier this week, only for a move to fall through. Everton remain in the race, and Gomez will be a target for Santo.
Santo remains out of work after leaving Wolves. He is likely to remain in the Premier League with Palace and Everton still on the lookout for a new manager, while Tottenham have also been linked. But a move to Palace hit the rocks, so Everton now look a likely option for the Portuguese gaffer.
Meanwhile, 19-time Uruguay international Gomez has endured a tricky season at Valencia. Since leaving Celta Vigo for £35million () in 2019, he has scored just 17 goals in 71 games for Valencia. The report says Santo will look to sign Gomez for Everton if he moves to Goodison Park.

Gomez would be a top signing for Everton, under Santo
Everton need a striker. They need one that is not just cover for England striker Dom Calvert-Lewin, but one that can compete with him. Gomez does just that. He also offers Everton something completely different to Calvert-Lewin in that he gives a bit of flair, tenacity and creation in the final third.
Valencia, one of Santo’s old teams, would surely accept a fee less than £35million for Gomez – given his struggling form over the past two years. But he is still young-ish, and if Santo can get the best out of him, he would be a brilliant addition to a new Everton side under Santo.
