Report: Nottingham Forest want Newcastle winger on loan; rivals also keen

Nottingham Forest are amongst a host of clubs keen on signing Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy on loan this summer, .

Murphy spent last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday. And he managed to score nine goals in the Championship, while also providing four assists.

that the Owls want to re-sign the 25-year-old. But they reportedly face competition from Forest, Derby County, Middlesbrough and Stoke City.

The report adds that Murphy is set to leave Newcastle on loan once again this season. It is suggested that a move away for the £12 million signing will free up some funds for Steve Bruce.

TBR View: Forest should be favourites for Murphy

It may perhaps be tempting for Murphy to return to Wednesday for another spell. Only Steven Fletcher scored more for the Owls last season.

But Garry Monk’s men will begin next year with a points deduction. So perhaps Murphy may be keen to move elsewhere.

Forest, of course, came agonisingly close to finishing in the play-offs last season. Sabri Lamouchi will surely be optimistic therefore, that his side can put themselves into contention once again this coming term if they make the right signings.

So a City Ground switch should be tough to snub.
