Report: Nottingham Forest join Celtic and Rangers in Lawrence Shankland pursuit

Nottingham Forest are the latest club to join the hunt for Lawrence Shankland, .

Celtic and Rangers have both been scouting Shankland ahead of the January transfer window (). But now Nottingham Forest want to bring him to England.

Shankland has been prolific since moving from Ayr United to Dundee United in the summer. He had scored 61 times in 73 games for Ayr but is already going at more than a goal per game at Dundee United.

Since his summer switch, the 24-year-old has netted 19 goals in just 18 matches. This form has earned him a call-up to the Scotland national side. And Forest will consider a £2m move for Shankland.

The Reds are seeking promotion to the Premier League this season and Sabri Lamouchi wants to bolster his strikeforce in January. Shankland is a main target but the Old Firm will compete too.

TBR’s view

Shankland only just joined Dundee United but he has been catching the eye with his consistent goals. It will be a step up to the Championship – and potentially the Premier League – but he has earned this chance.

The Scotland international is a natural goalscorer and he could thrive in the right system. It will be a big decision to move away from Scotland but he has to back himself to be a success.
