Unsurprisingly, the Mail suggests that the Millers would love to keep Barlaser beyond this season. But they will have to battle with several second tier sides for his signature should he leave Newcastle.

The Mail reports that Brentford, Charlton Athletic, Wigan Athletic and Hull City all want the youngster. It is suggested by the report that he has held no talks with his parent club about extending his contract.

It was always going to be difficult for the youngster to catch the eye while playing in League One. But he is perhaps doing as much as he can to impress those on Tyneside.

Rotherham are in a fantastic position. And the Mail reports that Warne has recently stated that his team would not be the same without Barlaser in it.

Newcastle look to be fairly strong in midfield right now. But perhaps, they should be open to offering the youngster another contract before the summer.

He may be able to raise his game if given the chance. Few could have imagined how well Sean and Matty Longstaff would take to life in the Premier League before their respective debuts.

It is perhaps a gamble to offer him fresh terms. But there is a lot more scope for a much bigger mistake should they allow him to leave and perhaps become a success elsewhere.
