Report: Newcastle will have to make ‘staggering’ bid to actually sign 25-year-old winger this summer

Newcastle United are attempting to prise Jack Harrison away from Leeds this summer, .

The Magpies have already seen one bid rejected for Harrison this summer as Leeds turned down a £25 million bid for the player.

Whites boss Jesse Marsch has big plans for the 25-year-old this season coming off the back of an impressive campaign last time out.

And if Eddie Howe wants to bring the former Manchester City man to St James’ Park, the club will have to significantly up their offer.

Newcastle will have to make staggering bid for Harrison

.

And if Leeds were to be tempted to sell Harrison, it would take a ‘staggering’ bid from Newcastle for the club to even consider it.

The Whites expect the winger to stay at Elland Road this summer and feel if the Magpies met their demands for Harrison, it would leave Howe’s men with little funds left.

The Englishman was a key player for Leeds last season and one the main reasons they avoided relegation. Harrison scored eight goals and put up one assist in the Premier League last season.

TBR’s View: Harrison would be a good fit at Newcastle, but not for the price

It’s obvious why Howe wants the player at Newcastle, he would be a great fit for his high-energy style of football and has shown the ability to produce end product.

But if reports are true that it will take a staggering offer, the Magpies may be better off looking elsewhere for the time being.

If Howe spends the majority of his budget on Harrison, he will be unable to address other areas in the squad, such as another striker to compete with Callum Wilson and Chris Wood.

There are cheaper options available on the market at the moment, with Emmanuel Dennis and Maxwel Cornet being linked with moves to the club. Both would also be able to fill the striker role, if Wilson or Wood were unavailable.
