Report: Newcastle want Wolves captain Conor Coady

Newcastle United are eyeing a January move for Wolves captain Conor Coady, that their Premier League rival are likely to want at least £20 million for the centre-back.

The Magpies are continuing to make plans for the future. Of course, their first thought will be finding the manager to drive them up the Premier League table.

But the January transfer window is not too far around the corner. And Newcastle will want to strengthen to ensure that they keep themselves out of trouble.

And it appears that they have their eye on some big names.

that they want to lure Coady away from Molineux. It is claimed that he could cost at least £20 million.

Coady has already offered view on Newcastle takeover

It is hard to imagine Coady playing for another Premier League club. He has been central to their rise from mid-table in the Championship to the top flight.

But interestingly, some recent comments made by the England international surely provide the smallest hint that he would be open to a move to St James’ Park.

He labelled Newcastle an ‘incredible football club’. He also suggested that the takeover was ‘brilliant’ for the Magpies.

Of course, that does not mean that he will jump at the chance to leave. But if Wolves accept an offer, perhaps Newcastle would be one club he would be tempted by.

Wolves fans meanwhile, would seemingly feel a little conflicted about Coady potentially joining Newcastle.

Some clearly believe that he has his limitations. They think that a better centre-back may actually be required in the long-term.

But on the other hand, many are adamant that he is an unbelievable leader.

So it will be fascinating to see the reaction should Newcastle make a big bid in the months ahead.
