Report: Newcastle United striker Ayoze Perez wanted by Real Betis and Napoli
Newcastle United striker Ayoze Perez is a transfer target for two European clubs, according to reports in Italy. that Real Betis lead Napoli in pursuit of Perez.
Perez, who operates as a striker or as an attacking midfielder, has been a regular for Newcastle this season.
In 35 games, the 25-year-old has scored seven goals and provided two assists. Six of those goals have come in the Premier League.
But Perez could be set for a summer exit as Real Betis and Napoli consider rekindling their previous interest in the attacker.
This report indicates that Betis are best-placed to launch a swoop for Perez, while Napoli were interested in him last summer.
Real Betis are currently pushing for a spot in the Europa League next season, while Napoli are second in Serie A and likely to qualify for the Champions League.
Rafa Benitez has tended to use Perez as the partner for Salomon Rondon up front. The two players complement each other well with physically strong Rondon operating ahead of speedy Perez.
But there have been question marks over the Spaniard’s consistency and he has frustrated fans with some poor performances this season.
