Report: Newcastle United are really interested in signing club’s ‘great gem’, but there’s a problem
Newcastle United are really interested in signing Vasco da Gama’s ‘great gem’ Andrey Santos, .
The Magpies are coming off the back of a busy summer window where they signed a total of four players.
Eddie Howe was keen to bring in attacking reinforcements this summer and got his wish as the club brought in Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad.
Newcastle also bolstered their defence by signing Sven Botman, Matt Targett and Nick Pope.
But it seems that Howe’s men also have one eye on the future as they reportedly hold an interest in Santos.

Newcastle really interested in Santos
, while Barcelona and Flamengo have also shown interest.
The 18-year-old apparently has admirers at top clubs in Brazil and across Europe. But the Brazilian youngster signed a new five-year contract with Vasco yesterday.
And despite Newcastle’s apparent interest, it could now be a difficult deal to do. Vasco consider their academy product as ‘one of the club’s great gems’.

Santos is currently playing his football in the second tier in Brazil but has shown great promise at such a young age.
The Brazil U20 international has netted five times in just 26 appearances for Vasco.
And with clubs such as Barcelona reportedly showing interest in him, he’s clearly a big prospect for the future.
Howe is currently focusing on his current squad and the club’s signings over the summer show this. But it’s smart for the club to also build for the future.
Newcastle seem to be on an upward trajectory under new ownership and it’s promising to see that the club are also keeping one eye on the future.
