Newcastle United are interested in signing Lille’s Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches in the upcoming summer transfer window.

That’s according to Italian outlet , who have revealed that the Magpies have joined the race to sign the talented 24-year-old, who is also wanted by Serie A giants AC Milan.

Sanches has really turned his career around in France. After a disappointing time at Bayern Munich, which included an underwhelming loan spell in the Premier League at Swansea, the Portuguese international is now a completely different player.

He is set for a big move away from Lille this summer, just a year after helping them win the Ligue 1, and Newcastle are reportedly keen.

Newcastle want to take revenge on AC Milan by signing Renato Sanches

Newcastle’s priority transfer target in the January window was Sven Botman. Eddie Howe really wanted the Dutch centre-half, but it looks like he’s closing in on a move to AC Milan.

That’s annoying for Newcastle as they tried very hard to sign Botman two months ago. Milan are the real winners now, but the Magpies want to inflict some pain on the Rossoneri for taking away their top target.

The report claims that Newcastle want to take ‘revenge’ on Milan by snatching Renato Sanches away from them in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Lille want £25 million for their star midfielder while Sanches, labelled as ‘‘ by Carlo Ancelotti, is demanding a salary of £5 million a year. That’s proving to be difficult for Milan, but Newcastle are ready to meet those demands right away.

Newcastle have found a fantastic midfield partnership now.

A trio of Joelinton, Joe Willock and Jonjo Shelvey kept Bruno Guimaraes away from the starting eleven for a few weeks. The Brazilian is in now, making the middle of Newcastle’s park really strong.

Sanches’ addition will make it considerably stronger in the summer but it will be interesting to see if the Portuguese international will snub a Champions League club for Newcastle United.

If he does, Newcastle fans have every reason to be excited, even though they’re set to miss out on a fantastic defender like Botman.
