Report: Newcastle table £165k-a-week offer to sign Brazilian magician, rejected
that Newcastle have tabled a huge £165,000-a-week offer to sign Lyon star Lucas Paqueta. However, the Brazilian ace is happy with the Ligue 1 outfit – and has rejected a move to Tyneside.
Paqueta, 24, is in excellent form. Playing 21 times this season, he has had a hand in 11 goals for Peter Bosz’s side. Scoring seven goals, he has also laid on four assists – becoming a regular for Brazil, too.
He helped Brazil reach the Copa America final in the summer, only for Tite’s side to lose to Argentina – scoring two goals throughout the tournament. His form has not gone unnoticed by Newcastle’s new owners.
The report claims that Newcastle have tabled an offer to sign Paqueta, offering the playmaker a huge £165k-a-week deal. However, Newcastle have seen that package rejected. Paqueta will only leave for a bigger club than Lyon.

Newcastle table Paqueta offer: Would be a sensational signing
But the fact of the matter is, he is not going to join a side that look as if they will end up being relegated. The Toon are miles off it, struggling defensively – losing 4-0 to Manchester City, 4-1 to Liverpool and 4-0 to Leicester.
Newcastle need some creativity and Paqueta would certainly excite fans. But he would be a good signing for any Premier League club, and therefore will not be joining Newcastle. The Toon need to be more realistic.
