Report: Newcastle ready to agree compensation to make Ashworth appointment
Newcastle United are ready to pay compensation to get Dan Ashworth in at St James’ Park as soon as next month, .
Ashworth’s move to Tyneside has looked to be on the cards for a little while. The 50-year-old is currently on gardening leave after it was announced that he was leaving Brighton and Hove Albion.

that he is expected to be appointed at Newcastle. However, The Sun on Sunday suggests that his notice period still has another six months left to run.
With that in mind, Newcastle are now hoping to strike a deal with Brighton that would allow Ashworth to take the director of football role in March.

that the Magpies are now ready to pay compensation rather than wait for Ashworth’s deal to expire.
Newcastle having Dan Ashworth in place sooner only likely to be a good thing for Magpies
Newcastle have moved another step closer to ensuring that they will be remaining in the Premier League next year. Eddie Howe’s men have moved four points clear of the bottom three with a 2-0 win over Brentford.
Crucially, there are now several sides between themselves and the relegation zone. With that, the club can perhaps start to tentatively make optimistic plans for next season.
And getting Ashworth through the door as soon as possible would surely be an extremely smart move. He has received a lot of plaudits for the work he has done with England and Brighton.
Of course, he will already have ideas for what he wants to do should he indeed be Newcastle-bound. But he will surely only be able to fully understand his role once he is in place on Tyneside.
It would appear that Newcastle are going to try and make that happen in the coming weeks.
