Report: Newcastle have proposed long-term project to Belgium boss Roberto Martinez
As the search for a new manager at Newcastle continues in earnest, reports from Spain are now suggesting that former Everton boss Roberto Martinez has been offered a long-term project by the Magpies.
According to Spanish outlet , Newcastle have made an approach to Martinez already. It states that they see him as a longer term option as new manager. At the moment, in England are suggesting that both Frank Lampard and Paulo Fonseca are being considered.
However, there is a disagreement in what sort of terms the new manager should be given. The states that some inside the club want a short-term manager in place for now. That would make sense, in respect of the report here from .
Martinez can leave Belgium if a club pays a minor release-clause in his contract. Despite being lauded, the former Everton and Wigan man has failed to deliver the major trophy so many expected in Belgium.

TBR’s View: Martinez to Newcastle could make a lot of sense
The one thing Martinez has got is the patience and willingness to invest into a long-term project. And that’s what Newcastle do want. Eventually, anyway.
At the moment, they just need someone who can keep them up. Martinez probably has enough experience in England to ensure they do that. But there is still a question mark over his record at actually bringing the success expected.
Still, Martinez is a good coach and manager. He will improve players, which could be key. Newcastle fans, too, will likely look at the appointment of Martinez fondly.
