Report: Newcastle likely to let Andy Carroll and Dwight Gayle go this summer
Newcastle United are unlikely to offer Andy Carroll a new contract ahead of next season, that Dwight Gayle may also be on the way out of St James’ Park.
It always looked to be a gamble to sign Carroll in the summer. The 31-year-old made more than 18 league appearances in a single season just once after joining West Ham permanently.

Unfortunately, it appears that the roll of the dice has not paid off. Carroll has made just four Premier League starts for the Magpies and is still awaiting his first goal since his return.
Meanwhile, Gayle – who earns £40,000-a-week, – has spent even less time out on the pitch. He has also made four league starts for Steve Bruce’s men and is yet to find the back of the net in the top flight this term.

that both players could be on the move this summer. It is suggested that Gayle will be given the green light to leave, while Carroll is unlikely to be offered a new contract.
TBR View – Carroll return not a total waste of time
It would be unfair to completely dismiss Carroll as a flop after his second spell. In fact, no player in Newcastle’s squad has provided more league assists than the striker this season.
Meanwhile, Gayle should be fondly remembered for his stunning return that played a key role in Newcastle getting promoted from the Championship three years ago.
He scored 23 goals in just 32 appearances that season.
However, it has never quite worked out in the top flight. And a summer move may be best for all parties.
