Report: Newcastle join Wolves in tracking Celtic defender Jack Hendry

Newcastle United have joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in the race to sign Jack Hendry, that the centre-back is set to return to Celtic in the summer.

Hendry seems to have got his career back on track after leaving for a loan move in Belgium. He had struggled to win over his doubters during the early stages of his time at Parkhead.

Interestingly, it appears that the Hoops could end up powerless over his future. According to the Daily Mirror, Oostende have an option to make his move permanent for £2 million.

The report hints that they could trigger the option and look to make a quick profit. That is where the likes of Newcastle, Wolves and Burnley seemingly come in.

It is suggested that they are all interested in the defender.

Despite the option however, that Celtic are set to offer Hendry a fresh chance. Of course, the Hoops will have a new manager in charge in the summer.

And the report suggests that Hendry is likely to want to return to Parkhead for another go at forcing his way into the fold.

TBR View: Odd situation, but perhaps Hendry is key if Celtic hope to keep him

If Celtic have already agreed an option to potentially sell Hendry permanently, a decision could seemingly be taken out of their hands.

However, the report’s suggestion that he is likely to return would perhaps hint that Hendry could prevent a permanent move to Oostende taking place.

But there look set to be a number of options available to the 25-year-old this summer. And Celtic’s hopes of potentially keeping him will surely not be helped by the trio of Premier League clubs lurking in the background.
