Report: Newcastle interested in signing Bernd Leno from Arsenal

Newcastle United are once again interested in signing Bernd Leno from Arsenal after failing to agree a deal for Dean Henderson this summer, .

Leno looks set to leave the Emirates in the coming weeks. He spent most of this past season as Aaron Ramsdale’s backup. And obviously, Mikel Arteta will hope Ramsdale kicks on again this coming year.

Reports claimed that Leno had said most of his goodbyes around London Colney. But it did appear that a Premier League move may be on the cards for the Germany international.

Fulham want Leno and have opened talks. But a familiar face has also returned to the race.

, Newcastle want Leno once again. The Magpies were keen to sign the 29-year-old during the January transfer window. However, they had been prioritising another target.

Reports claimed that they hoped to sign Dean Henderson. But it would appear that they have now admitted defeat over the £40 million-rated goalkeeper.

90min suggests Eddie Howe’s side are keen on Leno after missing out on Henderson.

Newcastle interested in Leno

Leno’s priority will be moving somewhere he is set to be number one. Otherwise, you would imagine that he would be content to stay at the Emirates.

Newcastle look determined to try and sign a new first-choice stopper in this window. And if they are prepared to provide Leno with assurances, he would surely be tempted.

Leno is a ‘‘ goalkeeper. Arsenal would surely be only too happy to keep him as cover and competition for Ramsdale. But obviously, they will be aware that he will want to play.

He would be a very good signing for Newcastle. Leno has rarely let Arsenal down during his time at the Emirates following his move.

The Gunners may also see a positive from selling him to a Premier League rival where they can perhaps demand a slightly higher transfer fee.
