Report: Newcastle in talks to sign Spurs defender Cameron Carter-Vickers

Newcastle United are one of the clubs in talks to sign Cameron Carter-Vickers, that Bournemouth and Anderlecht also want the Tottenham Hotspur defender.

An incredibly promising season for Carter-Vickers ended in agonising fashion on Saturday. The 23-year-old was part of the Cherries side that missed out on a play-off final spot after a 3-1 defeat at Brentford.

Nevertheless, his form on the south coast has prompted a number of clubs to take an interest.

Unsurprisingly, Bournemouth are keen to keep the Spurs loanee. But SBI Soccer reports that both Newcastle and Anderlecht are also in talks to sign the centre-back.

It is noted that four MLS sides also want Carter-Vickers, but his salary makes a move unlikely.

, Spurs are looking for around £9.9 million ($14 million) for the youngster, who has one year left on his contract in North London.

TBR View: Getting almost £10m for Carter-Vickers would be great business for Spurs

It has appeared for some time that Carter-Vickers’s long-term future lied away from Spurs. It is well over four years since his last appearance for Tottenham.

Since then, he has been loaned out six times.

So getting almost £10 million for him would be superb business from Spurs. He is out of contract next summer and is yet to play in the Premier League.

And with Tottenham surely set to strengthen their centre-back options this summer, it makes sense for all parties to sell him in the coming months.
