Report: Newcastle in advanced talks to sign Napoli winger Hirving Lozano
that Newcastle United are in ‘advanced’ talks to sign Napoli attacker Hirving Lozano this summer, and a cut-price deal could be orchestrated for the Mexican wide man.
Lozano, 24, joined Napoli last summer from PSV Eindhoven for a fee £45million () after netting an enormous 40 goals in 79 league and cup appearances for the Dutch side. However, at Napoli, he has scored just three goals in 23 games.
A 39-time Mexico international, Lozano joined Napoli with his reputation growing. However, a difficult season in the Serie A has seen the winger struggle to adapt to one of Europe’s toughest leagues and it is clear Gennaro Gattuso is willing to sell.
Napoli stars Kalidou Koulibaly, Allan and Dries Mertens have all been linked with Newcastle since reports emerged that the club could be about to be subject to a £300million takeover. Now, Lozano could also consider a move to the Toon.
The report suggests a move for Lozano is not far away. Indeed, it claims Newcastle are in ‘advanced’ talks to sign Lozano, and they hope to reach an agreement before the market opens. Gattuso is willing to sell for a fee smaller than they paid for Lozano.

TBR’s view – Lozano would be an excellent signing
It is clear that Newcastle could do with another one or two options out wide. This season, Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin have been used on the flanks – but a new winger should push Almiron into his favoured number 10 role.
That would see Newcastle switch to a different formation. With Lozano and Saint-Maximin either side of Almiron in a potential 4-2-3-1 system, and a new striker up front, Newcastle already look much more dangerous going forward.
The report states Newcastle could get Lozano for a cut-price fee and that would be excellent business.
