Report: Newcastle hold talks with Huddersfield over Rolando Aarons

Newcastle United appear to be working to find a way to offload Rolando Aarons before  Friday’s deadline passes, that the Magpies have held talks with Huddersfield Town over a potential move.

Aarons looks to be out of the picture at St James’ Park. He has not played a competitive game for the club since 2017.

Funnily enough, the last time he played under Steve Bruce came while he was on loan at Sheffield Wednesday in 2019.

So it would arguably be a boost for both Newcastle and Aarons if a move could be agreed before the window shuts this week.

that talks have been held with Huddersfield. The report notes that Aarons’s contract expires at the end of the season, and thus, Newcastle would prefer to let him go in this window.

It remains to be seen if a deal can be agreed. But it would surely make sense for Aarons to do all he could to land a move elsewhere.

Of course, he may have more options should he wait until the summer. However, he will surely have little interest in sitting on the sidelines at this stage of his career.

There was a stage when Aarons looked to be an incredibly exciting talent destined to be a key player for the Magpies.

Unfortunately, that opportunity has almost certainly passed him by. But he could definitely get his career back on track by joining the Terriers and working with an extremely promising coach.
