Report: Newcastle have trump card to beat Celtic and Rangers to Jarrad Branthwaite signing
Newcastle United youngster Elias Sorensen has given his parent club a surprise advantage in the January transfer window.
With several clubs chasing Carlisle United’s Jarrad Branthwaite, Newcastle are said to be in pole position. , Newcastle have first refusal on Branthwaite due to a clause in Sorensen’s loan contract.
Sorensen might not be playing as regularly as he would like at Carlisle. But he could help Newcastle land Carlisle teenager Branthwaite ahead of other interested clubs.

Celtic, Rangers and Southampton have also been credited with an interest in this report. However, Newcastle would be given the chance to sign him ahead of the rest of the pack.
Branthwaite, 17, is a towering central defender. Despite his young age, he has already a handful of senior games. He recently became the Cumbrian club’s youngest ever goalscorer, netting against Morecambe in the EFL Trophy.
Newcastle are leading the race for the highly-talented teen. And it’s all thanks to the clause in Sorensen’s deal.

Branthwaite has all the credentials to become a future star at St James’ Park. Given his physical frame, he is prepared for senior football already and he is impressing in League Two.
A move to Newcastle might appeal to Branthwaite as it is the closest interested club. Also, he would be able to team up with Sorensen again; a player who might potentially assist this transfer.
