Report: Newcastle have now made their move to sign two Premier League midfielders before the deadline

Newcastle United have looked into the prospect of signing Douglas Luiz or Leander Dendoncker before the deadline.

The report on their transfer liveblog at 9.25am that any incoming in the north east before the window slams shut will be in the engine room.

Luiz has interest from across the Premier League and the report says Newcastle have not received much encouragement over signing the Brazilian.

Dendoncker is also wanted by Aston Villa and West Ham, who both look better placed to sign the Belgian international at this moment in time.

Newcastle ask about Luiz and Dendoncker

They would also do business over Youri Tielemans or Conor Gallagher, both of whom have been linked in the past.

But as it stands, it does not seem like either of those international midfielders will be coming to Newcastle before the deadline either.

The report says Eddie Howe ideally wants a midfielder on a loan deal before the deadline, which would be a cheaper, low-risk option.

Newcastle suffered late heartbreak at Anfield last night when Fabio Carvalho’s goal earned Liverpool a last gasp 2-1 comeback win.

But they have recently competed well with Liverpool and Manchester City, who are by far the best two teams in the country in recent years.

Another top class midfielder could elevate Howe’s team once again but they will want the right man at the right price despite the proximity to the deadline.
