Report: Newcastle have £10m bid accepted for defender

that Newcastle United have had a bid worth £10million accepted by Paris Saint-Germain for impressive left-back Stanley NSoki.

Nsoki, 20, has long been linked with a move to Newcastle after first coming under consideration during Rafa Benitez’s reign. Newcastle have also needed a left-back for quite some time.

It was a problem area in the two years Benitez spent in charge of the club in the Premier League, despite the presence of Paul Dummett. Matt Ritchie was even used on the left side of defence last season.

Now, a bid for Nsoki has been accepted after Newcastle failed with a £7million offer earlier over the weekend. A highly-rated talent, Nsoki has broken into the Paris Saint-Germain first team – but is looking for more game time.

Last season, he clocked up 15 appearances for PSG – taking his overall tally to 24 outings. He has already won two Ligue 1 titles, but he is now set for talks with The Toon after a bid was accepted.

TBR’s view – Nsoki finally plugs a hole at Newcastle

This move has been a very long time coming. First linked 12 months ago, Nsoki has been on Newcastle’s radar longer than he should have been. But in the end, it seems as though Newcastle are going to get their man.

Dummett is a decent left-back. But the Wales international is not good enough going forward and does encapsulate the image of a centre-back playing at full-back on occasion. Nsoki is an excellent replacement.

Still only 20 but boasting bags of speed and a willingness to get forward, the France Under-21 international is a bargain at £10million. He could bring the best out of Miguel Almiron on the left flank.
