The Magpies could do with bolstering their midfield, and Van de Beek has been on their radar.

Now, the have claimed that Newcastle have been sounded out over the Dutchman.

As well as the Magpies, Borussia Dortmund have reportedly been contacted over a potential loan move too.

Van de Beek is continuing to struggle for game time at Old Trafford.

Indeed, the 24-year-old has lost his place in the Netherlands squad as a result.

Van de Beek has started just four Premier League games since his £35million move from Ajax in September 2020.

All of them came last season, and this term, he’s struggled to make an impact.

The claims Van de Beek came close to joining Everton on loan in summer.

However, he stayed put at United and was expected to play a more prominent role, which hasn’t happened.

Van de Beek arrived at the club to much fanfare following his heroics for Ajax.

He registered an impressive 41 goals and 34 assists from 175 appearances for the Dutch giants.

“Yes he’s working hard and working hard in the gym,” Bruno Fernandes last August.

“Obviously he is one of the quality players we know and now he’s building up.”

Van de Beek just needs a change of scenery and Newcastle could certainly do with his quality.
