Report: Newcastle could offer Tottenham star an escape route as injuries mount
that Newcastle United could offer Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose an escape route from the north London club, with the England international struggling for game time under Jose Mourinho.
Rose, 29, has only started one Premier League match since October – with Mourinho using Ryan Sessegnon or Jan Vertonghen on the left side of defence. Ben Davies is set to return from injury in the coming weeks, and he is likely to play above Rose.
Newcastle need a new left-sided defender. Jetro Willems suffered a season-ending knee injury in the 1-0 win over Chelsea, while Paul Dummett has been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.
England international Rose is likely to want game time with Euro 2020 on the horizon, and Tottenham are willing to listen to offers for the ex-Leeds youth player. A loan deal is the most likely outcome at this stage.

TBR’s view – It is a move that makes sense for all parties
Simply, a move to Newcastle for Rose makes perfect sense. The left-back needs game time and he would get that at Newcastle – strengthening the chance of a permanent move to a big club in the summer.
Newcastle will fill a hole with the signing of Rose. Matt Ritchie is Steve Bruce’s best option on the left side of the defence, but he has a history of injuries and of course is naturally a winger.
For Tottenham, they will get a percentage of his wages off the bill. It just makes sense. Rose has 18 months left on his £60,000-a-week () contract.
