Report: Newcastle could give 51-year-old manager’s job until end of season
The latest news when it comes to who will be the next Newcastle United manager could have taken a minor twist, with claiming Graeme Jones could be handed the role on a permanent – albeit short-term – basis.
Jones, 51, is said to be highly-thought of at St James’ Park. It’s believed the current squad, as well as those already higher up in the club, appreciate the work Jones does. Indeed, he is being tipped to be in charge this coming weekend if Steve Bruce leaves.
But rather than just take charge for a game or two, claim that Newcastle could even let Jones take the manager job until the end of the season.

Jones being in charge could give Newcastle’s new ownership time to find the right long-term appointment. At the same time, Jones could even put himself firmly in the frame.

And in fairness, that might well be Jones. However, the issue here is that the Toon Army are probably expecting a big-name appointment. Jones, for all his credentials, isn’t that.
However, he is well-liked as it states in the report. And if that can transcend onto the field with the squad, then the 51-year-old might well be the man for now at least.
