Now, Newcastle have joined some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs in the form of Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea () in pursuit of Ramsey. The Welshman has struggled in his first season at Juventus.

Earning a whopping £400,000 a week , Ramsey may be sold in order to free up some wages. Rabiot, meanwhile, is in a similar boat to Ramsey after joining Juve on a free last summer. , Everton want Rabiot.

Costa, 29, a 31-time Brazil international, has a very impressive CV – having had a hand in 27 goals during 90 Juve appearances, and was involved in 41 goals during 77 Bayern outings. All three are said to be on Newcastle’s soon-to-be owners’ shortlist.

TBR’s view – Which one do Newcastle need most?

Newcastle are very well stocked in the middle of the park. Both Longstaff brothers will want to be kept by the club’s new owners, while Jonjo Shelvey is one of the leaders of the Toon squad.

Nabil Bentaleb has done okay since moving on loan, and it remains to be seen if a permanent deal will be orchestrated. Rabiot, then, is hardly needed but he is certainly an improvement on their current options.

A goalscoring midfielder is certainly required and Ramsey is just that, while Costa would be good competition for the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron.
