Report: Newcastle considering January move for £11m Tottenham signing

Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon is one of the players that Newcastle United have considered ahead of the January transfer window, .

Rodon has endured a hugely frustrating season with Spurs. In fact, he has only featured on one occasion in the Premier League despite Antonio Conte lauding the way he ‘works and works’.

The majority of his appearances have come in the Europa Conference League. And it was recently reported that he is keen to leave Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on loan next month.

Football London journalist Alasdair Gold suggested that Brighton and Hove Albion are admirers of the £11 million Wales international. But it would appear that they are not the only Premier League side monitoring his situation.

that Newcastle have Rodon on their wishlist. The Magpies are also keen on the likes of Lloyd Kelly, Matthias Ginter and Sven Botman.

Rodon should welcome chance to leave Tottenham for Newcastle loan

Newcastle are going to struggle to convince their targets to join them in January. Eddie Howe’s side remain in the relegation mix.

But for a player such as Rodon, a move to Tyneside could be ideal.

The 24-year-old has a much better chance of securing a regular spot in the Magpies side. And with Howe at the helm, Newcastle may adopt a style of football that allows Rodon to showcase his biggest strengths.

And Newcastle can offer Rodon the kind of stage that should stand him in good stead upon his return to Tottenham. They are a huge club with big expectations.

If he can thrive at Newcastle, he arguably stands a fantastic chance of sending a message to Conte.
