that the Magpies have been encouraged that Jose Mourinho will be happy to let Rose leave for only a nominal fee.

TBR View – Newcastle clear one stumbling block, but other hurdles remain

Newcastle have seemingly cleared one hurdle as they look to sign Rose. Spurs are apparently not planning to stand in his way if a club comes in.

However, there may be a few more for Steve Bruce’s men to contend with before a deal is done.

The Magpies do not appear to be Rose’s only admirers. And they are reportedly relying on the defender experiencing a change of heart.

It remains to be seen if Rose is open to moving away from Tottenham this month. But it would certainly be a statement if Newcastle could lure him to St James’ Park.
