Report: Newcastle ask about Maxwel Cornet; he’ll cost £17.5m
Newcastle United have now decided to ask about a deal for Maxwel Cornet, that the Magpies are one of a raft of Premier League sides interested in the Ivorian this summer.
Cornet enjoyed a superb first season in the Premier League. He finished the campaign as Burnley’s top goalscorer, finding the back of the net nine times. His closest rivals meanwhile, managed to score just three times.

And that lack of fire-power helps explain why Burnley failed to keep themselves in the top-flight. They were relegated on the final day of the campaign – with Newcastle sending them down with a 2-1 win. It was Cornet who scored Burnley’s goal in the second-half.
That has opened the door for Cornet to leave on the cheap. In fact, that his contract includes a relegation release clause worth £17.5 million.

Reports claimed that Tottenham want the 25-year-old. But it turns out that Eddie Howe has also put himself into the mix.
90min reports that Newcastle have asked about Cornet. However, almost half of the top-flight have registered an interest in the forward.
Newcastle ask about Cornet
Cornet could be an ideal signing for so many Premier League sides this summer. He was certainly Burnley’s most dangerous player. And he backed that up by almost reaching double figures in his first year in England.
But he can also play in a number of positions. He can play all the way down the left flank, as well as up front. And obviously, he would only cost £17.5 million.
He is someone Chris Wood labelled a ‘‘ player who has plenty to offer should he leave Turf Moor in the coming months. And Newcastle are hoping that they can bring him to Tyneside.
