Report: Newcastle and Everton in race to sign 19-year-old goalscoring midfielder

that Newcastle United and Everton are interested in signing FC Nordsjaelland wonderkid Mohammed Kudus this summer, after the teenager netted nine goals in just 19 league games.

Kudus, 19, had previously scored three goals in his first 30 senior appearances for Nordsjaelland from the middle of the park – a normal return for a player in that position. But his stats have risen to a new level since being turned into a striker.

Playing as centre-forward, the teenager has now netted nine goals in 19 league games in the top tier of Danish football – and even broke into the Ghana national team on two occasions, even scoring on his debut in a 2-0 win over South Africa.

Newcastle and Everton both want to sign the young midfielder, who has shown not only a goal threat but excellent versatility. French club Rennes are also keen on Kudus, who has a contract until December 2021.

His goals have taken Nordsjaelland to fifth in the Danish Superliga and it comes as no surprise that bigger European sides are taking notice of the young African.

TBR’s view – Kudus is a proper talent, a good signing for either PL side

It is far too early to tell if Kudus is good enough for the Premier League but to already show versatility in two completely different positions, and score goals at a ratio of once every two games – it shows plenty of promise.

Given his contract has little over 18 months to run, Kudus could be sold on the cheap this summer in order for Nordsjaelland to bring in some cash for the Ghanaian star. Certainly, he could prove to be a properly good signing.
