Report: Newcastle and Celtic want Eddie Howe

Newcastle United and Celtic are considering approaches for Eddie Howe, with both club’s managers currently coming under huge pressure, .

Steve Bruce desperately needs a positive result in the near future. The Magpies have gone 10 games without a win in all competitions. Remarkably, they have scored just one goal in their last eight.

Meanwhile, Celtic’s hopes of winning their 10th league title in a row seem all but over. The Hoops are 23 points adrift of the league leaders.

And while they have three games in hand, they are still waiting for their first victory of 2021.

It is looking increasingly difficult to see Neil Lennon remaining at Parkhead beyond the coming months. And it appears that those working behind the scenes at Celtic are considering who could replace the Northern Irishman.

, both clubs are monitoring Howe. The Englishman is available after leaving Bournemouth last year. And it is claimed that he is itching to get back into a job.

Howe has long been considered one of the most exciting managers coming through. He is therefore, the kind of figure who could elevate Newcastle or Celtic.

He could certainly instil a style of football that restores some pride for the fans. So his availability leaves Newcastle’s and Celtic’s boards in a difficult position.

They may be wary of missing out and watching him go elsewhere. So perhaps, that may prompt either club to act sooner rather than later.
