Report: Newcastle ‘almost certain’ to complete second summer signing
that Newcastle United are ‘almost certain’ to complete a permanent deal for Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose – and that the club are in talks to complete two signings.
Rose, 30, has impressed since joining Newcastle in January on loan – more so than Valentino Lazaro and Nabil Bentaleb. He has played 11 times in all competitions for the Toon, helping them achieve Premier League safety.
The report states that Newcastle are in talks to complete two signings, with Rose ‘almost certain’ to agree a permanent move. It does not state whether the two are current loanees – like Rose – or completely different targets.
Rose would be some coup, and the club’s second signing of the summer window after Steve Bruce lured goalkeeper Mark Gillespie to the club on a free transfer from Motherwell last month.

TBR’s view – Rose is crucial, Lazaro and Bentaleb?
Newcastle started Fabian Schar in central midfield on Saturday with Bentaleb watching on from the bench. That says all you need to know over whether Bentaleb will be handed a permanent deal – despite his £8.5m clause ().
Lazaro has done well when given the chance, even scoring against Bournemouth and in the FA Cup win over West Brom. He could be signed permanently but his permanent clause is said to be a lot higher than Bentaleb’s.
Landing Rose, though, is pivotal for Newcastle.
