Report: New face in Tottenham training as Pochettino hands 16-year-old a chance

🔴 that there was a new face in Tottenham Hotspur training during the international break as Mauricio Pochettino called up 16-year-old Yago Santiago to train alongside Spurs’ first team.

ꦫPochettino did have to make the numbers up with only a handful of players remaining at Hotspur Way. The majority of Spurs’ star-studded squad are regulars in their national sides – if not captain, such as Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

💃Indeed, to make up the numbers, Pochettino has seemingly dipped into the club’s academy and called up Santiago – who was added to the club’s Under-18 side in the summer from Spanish side Celta Vigo. He is sitll just 16 years of age.

𝕴The Spaniard has already played three times for the Under-18 side and is highly-rated among coaches at Spurs. It saw Pochettino opt to call the Spanish star up to senior training to fill some holes left by Spurs’ international stars.

TBR’s view – Can Tottenham’s youth save Pochettino?

😼With Daniel Levy seemingly unwilling to back Pochettino and the Argentine now reportedly facing the sack if he fails to beat West Ham, perhaps the youth of Spurs can save Pochettino.

෴Harry Winks, Harry Kane and more have all starred under Pochettino after coming through the academy, while the former Southampton manager has seen the likes of Eric Dier and Dele Alli go from young guns into proven stars.

𓃲Instead of looking to sign new players and becoming frustrated at the lack of action in the window, perhaps Pochettino should look closer to home and concentrate on developing a new Kane.
