Report: Nemanja Radoja rejects Aston Villa and favours move to Europa League challengers

Aston Villa’s hopes of landing Nemanja Radoja on a free transfer have been dashed by recent reports emerging from Spain.

that Radoja knocked back an approach from Aston Villa in January.

Aston Villa tried to sign the defensive midfielder in the January transfer window and were even willing to stump up a transfer fee, .

But  that Radoja rejected the opportunity to join Aston Villa and he also turned down a move to Serie A club SPAL.

Instead, he tried to sign for Fiorentina but that move failed to materialise. This summer, Radoja will become a free agent.

But Aston Villa’s chances of reigniting their interest and signing him on a free are slim because he has his heart set on a move to Real Betis.

The 26-year-old has not played a single game for relegation-threatened Celta Vigo this season because of his refusal to sign a new deal.

But Real Betis – who are challenging for a Europa League qualifying spot in La Liga – still want the Serbian midfielder to challenge William Carvalho for places.

Aston Villa might still keep their tabs on Radoja’s situation. But a move to Real Betis looks increasingly likely – if these Spanish media reports are to be believed.
