Report names Liverpool midfielder that will be on the bench against Chelsea

Liverpool’s Naby Keita will reportedly be on the bench tonight against Chelsea for the third game in a row.

The Reds host Chelsea at Anfield on Thursday night in the Premier League.

, Keita will be named on the bench once again for the Merseyside club.

Keita, who earns £120,000-a-week (), has recently come back from an ankle problem that kept him sidelined for a couple of months.

The 26-year-old was an unused substitute in the Merseyside defeat to Everton, while at the weekend he got a late cameo off the bench in the win away to Sheffield United.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp will reportedly wait a little while to throw him back into the XI.

TBR’s View:

It’s no surprise that Klopp is being hesitant with Keita, as his injury record has been extremely poor since he joined back in 2018.

He’s only made 12 appearances across all competitions so far this season, which is why they will want to be careful they don’t aggravate another problem.

Keita is an all-action central midfielder that can bring an extra attacking threat and spark in the centre of the park when fit, so slowly integrating him back into the group makes sense ahead of the crunch part of the season.
