Report names game Leeds hope to have Bamford and Phillips back for

Leeds look to be in serious danger of being key protagonists in the relegation battle in the Premier League. Obviously, few would have expected them to get anything from Liverpool on Wednesday.

However, the concession of six goals saw an expected defeat turn into a humiliation. And Leeds have now lost four of their last five, taking one point along the way. They have conceded 16 in their last four.

The return of three first-team players is now looking to be pivotal. Leeds have not had Liam Cooper, Phillips or Bamford at all since the turn of the year.

There is plenty of debate surrounding which player’s absence is hurt the side most. But it would seem that Leeds are hopeful of a big boost in a couple of games.

Leeds hope to have Phillips and Bamford back to face Aston Villa. They face the Villans after taking on Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City.

Leeds desperately need Phillips and Bamford to hit ground running upon their returns

Of course, there is a couple of weeks before Leeds face Villa. So the fans may be expecting there to be setbacks along the way. And obviously, more players could join them on the sidelines before then.

But it could be massive to have Bamford and Phillips back. Bamford – who was labelled ‘unbelievable‘ by Phillips – has already scored two late equalisers this season. Meanwhile, no player seems to be more important to Leeds’ system than Phillips.

Their returns may not address all of their problems. But Leeds desperately need a lift right now.

If they start to regain some confidence and momentum, they have the potential to swiftly move themselves away from the bottom three.

But it looks to be a big if right now.
