Report names four Arsenal players Newcastle want this month

four Arsenal players on the radar of Newcastle United during the January transfer window, with two strikers amongst those on their wishlist.

The importance of the January window for the Magpies has only ramped up in light of recent results. The bottom four in the Premier League have started to be cut adrift.

Newcastle however, have the means to head into February with a much stronger squad. And judging by a report from The Telegraph, there is no shortage of names on their list of targets.

In fact, four come from the same club. , Gunners quartet Rob Holding, Mohamed Elneny, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Eddie Nketiah all are on the Newcastle radar.

It is claimed that Elneny has been scouted extensively. Meanwhile, a move for Aubameyang is described as unlikely due to his wage demands and his presence as the Africa Cup of Nations.

Eddie Nketiah joining Newcastle may prove a good move for Arsenal striker

None of the four players are playing regularly for Mikel Arteta’s men. Both Elneny and Nketiah meanwhile, are out of contract in the summer. And offloading Aubameyang’s wages would be a big boost for the Gunners.

So Arsenal may have few qualms about Newcastle making a move for any of the trio. That is despite Arteta previously describing Elneny as ‘special’.

Holding however, probably has a role to play. He appears to be just behind Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes in the pecking order.

Of the four names, signing Nketiah would perhaps make the most sense. He may not cost a lot. And he would surely relish the chance to play more regularly in the Premier League.

Paul Merson recently suggested that he has the potential to be a star after he scored a Carabao Cup hat-trick against Sunderland.

Perhaps Newcastle will look to be the side that offers him the platform to try and reach that level.
