Report names boss West Brom want for next season if relegated
West Brom are hoping that they can convince Sam Allardyce to carry on next season should they fail to stay in the Premier League, .
As things stand, the situation looks fairly bleak for the Baggies. Despite winning their last two games, they sit nine points adrift of safety with seven games remaining.
They also boast a daunting run-in. Based on the current standings, 12th place Wolves are the worst side they have left to face.
Understandably, the club are making plans for a potential return to the Championship. , Allardyce is the man they want to lead them next year if they are in the second tier.
It is noted that they have abandoned plans to look elsewhere for the time-being. And they hope that Allardyce could be tempted to stay on and try and bring them back up immediately should they go down.
The Sun adds that Chris Wilder and Valerien Ismael are on their wishlist if Allardyce does leave.
TBR View: West Brom should look at long-term picture when preparing for next season
While it is not uncommon for teams to struggle to come straight back up, West Brom are a club that should be in promotion contention every year they find themselves out of the top flight.
With that in mind, perhaps it would be wiser for West Brom to look elsewhere if they are unable to stay up.
Allardyce is threatening to set up a great escape. But the Baggies should arguably be wary of getting carried away.
Appointing a manager with a long-term vision may be better in the long run, with the goal surely being to re-establish themselves as a top flight mainstay.
Admittedly, heading down that path could be a brave move given Allardyce’s track record.
