Report: Naby Keita wants Liverpool exit but Atletico Madrid not keen

According to reports in Spain, Liverpool midfielder, Naby Keita, is keen on a move to Atletico Madrid this summer after falling out of favour at Anfield.

Spanish publication, , claims that Keita is keen on securing a move to the La Liga giants. It comes after the Guinea midfielder seems to be further and further down the line under Jurgen Klopp.

Keita has never quite discovered the form many expected when he signed for big money back in 2017. A number of injuries and lack of form when fit have led to the midfield being underwhelming for his £48m price. ()

But while Keita is said to be keen on a move to Atletico, it seems he won’t have things all his own way. The from AS claims that the Madrid outfit are unsure on the Liverpool man. This, despite claims that the Spaniards are set to make changes to their midfield.

Keita has made just the ten PL appearances for Liverpool this term. Indeed, in nearly four seasons, he’s only managed just shy of 80. He’s shown glimpses at times, including last summer when Klopp

The midfielder still has two years left on his contract so if the Reds are thinking of selling, then the time is now really.

Another 12 months down the line and his value will drop considerably. Now, there’s no way the Reds will get £48m back for Keita. However, they could potentially recoup some of it, given Keita is still only 26.

Unfortunately for Liverpool and the player, this will just have to go down as a signing that didn’t work out.
