Report: Monaco offer Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira three-year deal

Lucas Torreira may have taken a step closer to securing a permanent move away from Arsenal, that Monaco have offered the midfielder a three-year deal.

Torreira’s future has been a talking point throughout the window. He has been a peripheral figure since moving to Atletico Madrid on loan in the summer.

The 24-year-old has started just two league games for Diego Simeone’s side. Interestingly, that Torreira was set to stay in the Spanish capital beyond this window.

However, a report from Italy has suggested that he is leaving Atletico. And it appears that he could be on his way to Monaco.

, the Ligue 1 side have made contact with both Arsenal and Torreira. And they have apparently offered the Uruguayan a three-year deal.

It is suggested that the offer appeals to both the Gunners and the £26 million midfielder ().

TBR View: Arsenal should hold out for considerable fee before selling Torreira permanently

Of course, it remains to be seen what fee could be involved. And Atletico – who included Torreira in their squad for Sunday’s clash with Valencia – may also have a view on losing him.

So perhaps it would be no surprise if there are plenty of hurdles left to clear before Torreira becomes a Monaco player.

But Arsenal will surely be content if they manage to offload him permanently. Unfortunately, for all of his talent and potential, it does not seem to have quite worked out under Mikel Arteta.

It would be a huge mistake if Arsenal let him go on the cheap. But with Arteta looking to bolster his squad, it may really benefit the Gunners to cash in if the chance presents itself this month.
