Report: Mikel Arteta is now keeping a close eye on Chelsea defender Levi Colwill

According to , Arsenal are among a number of Premier League sides interested in signing young Chelsea defender Levi Colwill this summer.
If there’s one thing the Gunners have done since Mikel Arteta’s arrival, it’s focus on young players.
Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe have established themselves as two of the best youngsters in the Premier League, while the likes of Charlie Patino, Miguel Azeez, Folarin Balogun and most recently Reuell Walters have all been given a chance as well.
Keeping faith in youngsters is clearly working for Arteta, which is probably why he’s looking to sign another really talented young player – this time from a direct London rival.
Arsenal boss Arteta is keeping tabs on Chelsea defender Levi Colwill
The report claims that clubs in the Premier League have been alerted that Chelsea could be willing to let go of Colwill on a permanent deal in the coming weeks.
Leicester City have been named as the most interested club, while the likes of Southampton, Everton and Arsenal are also said to be admirers of the talented 19-year-old central defender.
The report further reveals that Arteta is keeping tabs on Colwill following his fantastic loan spell at Huddersfield Town last season, but it’s Brendan Rodgers who seems the most keen at this moment in time.
The teenager, who is yet to make his senior competitive debut for Chelsea, has three years left on his contract.

TBR View:
Chelsea are in a bit of a crisis at the back at the moment. Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger have both gone, and although it looks like , the Blues need all the help they can get.
That raises eyebrows as to why Thomas Tuchel is willing to let go of Colwill, who is among the club’s finest young defenders. His performances on loan last season earned him rave reviews, with Lewis O’Brien publicly claiming that the teenager will go on to have a ‘‘.
If Chelsea bring in another top quality defender, the need for Colwill reduces, but it’s still baffling to us that they’re willing to let him go on a permanent deal instead of another loan.
The Blues’ loss could well prove to be Arsenal’s gain this summer, but whether Chelsea would be willing to sell him to a direct London rival remains to be seen.
