Report: Middlesbrough set to sign Fulham stopper Marcus Bettinelli
Middlesbrough are close to completing the signing of Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli,
The 28-year-old’s departure from Fulham is likely to see another goalkeeper arrive at Craven Cottage to bolster Scott Parker’s ranks.
PSG custodian Alphonse Areola has been linked with a move and it remains to be seen whether Bettinelli heading north will give Fulham the green light to pull off the deal.

Middlesbrough boss Neil Warnock has been frustrated in his attempts to add to his squad this summer but in Bettinelli he’s pulling off a decent deal.
The goalkeeper has played 120 times for Fulham and has also tasted further Football League action during a loan spell at Accrington earlier in his career.
Bettinelli played 14 times last season but was largely kept on the fringes by the impressive Marek Rodak as the club won promotion to the Premier League.
Boro will pay the Cottagers a six-figure fee to take Bettinelli on loan for the 2020/21 campaign and it seems likely one of their goalkeepers will leave.
Ainsley Pears seems the most likely to make way, with Dejan Stojanovic a regular under Warnock during the closing stages of last season.
TBR View – Fulham’s loss is Boro’s gain
Bettinelli is a capable pair of hands and he might have fancied staking his claim for a place ahead of the Cottagers’ first season back in the top-flight.
That doesn’t look to be the case though, with Scott Parker almost certainly set to target a new goalkeeper following Bettinelli’s departure.

Boro are getting a decent player though, one who boasts agility, strong distribution and a good level of composure between the posts.
It will now be interesting to see who Parker has identified to bolster his own goalkeeping ranks ahead of the new campaign.
