Report: Massimo Cellino’s old side make offer for Leeds-linked midfielder

that one of Massimo Cellino’s former sides in Cagliari have made an offer to sign Fiorentina midfielder Erick Pulgar this month – a player that has been strongly linked with Leeds.

Pulgar, 27, has been linked with Leeds since the summer after an excellent 2019-20 that saw the 24-time Chile international score seven goals and create eight more from midfield. This season, his form has dipped.

He has failed to score or create a single goal and has dropped out of Fiorentina’s starting XI of late. earlier this month that Marcelo Bielsa wanted him, while said Leeds were ready to pay £22.5million.

But Bielsa has since confirmed Leeds are unlikely to make any signings. Cellino, who spent three years at Leeds as President, owned Cagliari before his move to Yorkshire and it is claimed that Cagliari have made an offer for Pulgar.

TBR’s view – Leeds will regret missing out on Pulgar

If there is a chance Pulgar is about to leave La Viola, then Leeds have got to enter the bidding and bring the tenacious midfielder to Elland Road before it is too late. Cagliari present a decent option for Pulgar.

Indeed, it allows him to remain in Italy, with a side where he is likely to get regular game time – given that Cagliari currently sit in 18th place and are fighting to avoid relegation to Serie B. Leeds need to re-think their inactivity.
