According to a report from , there are many people at Arsenal who are disappointed that Matteo Guendouzi’s Gunners career is about to come to an end.

The Frenchman made the move to the Emirates as a teenager in the summer of 2018. The Gunners paid £7 million to sign him from Lorient () and he hit the ground running under Unai Emery.

Guendouzi played 48 times for Arsenal in his first-ever season in English football. He was absolutely outstanding for the Gunners and fans were convinced that he was the future of the club.

Emery was sacked in 2019 and in came Arteta. A few months after his appointment, everything changed for Guendouzi.

Many at Arsenal are disappointed that Matteo Guendouzi will be sold

The problems between Arteta and Guendouzi first began after a disciplinary issue during Arsenal’s trip to Dubai. That was followed by the Frenchman’s altercation with Brighton’s Neal Maupay, which all but ended his career at the Emirates.

Guendouzi was sent out on loan to Hertha Berlin last season and he joined Marseille at the start of this campaign. The Ligue 1 outfit are obligated to sign him on a permanent deal this summer for a little over £9 million and that really is a shame for Arsenal.

The 22-year-old has the potential to become a world-class midfielder. The way he took to the Premier League when he was just 19 showed the world what he’s all about, but Arteta’s non-negotiables meant there’s just no place for the Frenchman.

Guendouzi will be gone soon and the report claims that there is a sense of regret and disappointment with many at Arsenal about how the midfielder couldn’t make it work at the Emirates.

Guendouzi had the world at his feet after his phenomenal debut season at Arsenal. , the Frenchman had everything in his game and the fans absolutely loved him.

However, his discipline became an issue and Arteta, as he did with Mesut Ozil and most recently with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, pushed him out.

Guendouzi has become a star at Marseille under Jorge Sampaoli and has even earned himself a call-up to the French national team.

He has been fantastic all season and if he can keep antics in check, he could still go on to become a top-quality player in the coming years.
