Liverpool will be eager to beat their rivals to another signing after the Gakpo news broke last night. But they may face a tough task in funding a deal for Fernandez next month.

Benfica look set to hold out for Fernandez’s full £106.2 million release clause to be met and you can’t blame them after his performances this season.

The ‘spectacular’ youngster played a key role in Argentina lifting the World Cup and has been equally as impressive in the Champions League this season.

With Klopp’s men also in the race to sign Bellingham next summer, it remains to be seen whether they can fund deals for both players.
