Report: Manchester United consider Tottenham target Takehiro Tomiyasu

Tottenham Hotspur could have to see off competition from a Premier League rival if they hope to sign Takehiro Tomiyasu, that Manchester United are considering a move for the defender.

Spurs look to be in the driving seat to sign the Bologna starlet. According to reports on Thursday, they had had a £15.5 million bid – involving an initial fee of £12.9 million – rejected by the Serie A side.

Bologna want £17.2 million, according to those reports. Meanwhile, The Athletic is claiming that £14.6 million plus add ons would be enough.

Spurs will surely return with a fresh offer at some stage. But if they wait too long, perhaps they may leave the door open for one of their top flight rivals.

, Manchester United are also considering Tomiyasu. He is not one of their top targets, the report claims.

It is also noted that fellow admirer Atalanta have been told that his preference is to join Spurs.

Manchester United interest should prompt Tottenham to get Tomiyasu move across the line

As things stand, it would appear that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not prioritising a move for the Japan international.

However, it would surely still be wise for Spurs to try and get a deal done as soon as possible before the competition heats up.

Fabio Paratici clearly rates the 22-year-old. Tottenham are well on their way to meeting his asking price.

So it would be a real blow to miss out, particularly if he heads elsewhere in the Premier League.
