Report: Manager who’s in pole position for Everton job in ‘deep’ talks, claim made about timescale

Everton are reportedly still in talks with Rafael Benitez over a deal in their bid to make him their new manager.

, the Toffees are working on a deal for the 61-year-old available boss.

It is understood that there are “deep discussions” ongoing between both parties, and that he’s in pole position to take charge at Goodison Park.

However, the report states that an appointment is not imminent when it comes to the timescale of the deal.

Benitez is currently out of work. As a result, links between him and the Merseyside club have been around a while now.

He left his role at Chinese Super League side Dalian Professional in January. His last job in England was with Premier League club Newcastle United.

Everton need to wrap up Benitez deal now

Everton can’t afford to wait much longer. They need to bring in Carlo Ancelotti’s successor now.

With pre-season just around the corner next month, any new Everton manager needs time to settle in.

It’s crushing to be without Ancelotti, but there is still a talented squad for a new coach to oversee.

Benitez seems to have been the frontrunner for a while, so fans have had time to process the thought of an ex-Liverpool boss taking charge at Goodison Park.

Everton supporters want their team in Europe. Therefore, affiliations may go out the window if Benitez starts well at Goodison Park.
