Report: ‘Magnificent’ West Brom player could’ve played his last game for the Baggies
West Bromwich Albion striker Charlie Austin is reportedly in talks over a return to Queens Park Rangers, according to the and the .
The 31-year-old arrived at The Hawthorns in the summer of 2019 for a reported £4million and helped the Baggies earn promotion to the Premier League with 10 goals and two assists in Championship games.
However, Austin has struggled for game time this term, clocking up just competitive senior appearances in all competitions, plus one in the Premier League 2 with the Under-23s.
He has played five times in the league this season, but all of those appearances were off the bench.
According to the , QPR boss Warburton had been in talks with a move for Brighton’s Glenn Murray but has now turned to Austin, with talks between player and club advancing.
The 6ft 2in striker is out of contract at the end of the season and, according to the , he’ll be joining QPR on loan, so if the move goes ahead, it’s likely he’s played his final game for the Baggies.

Austin may have done his bit for West Brom last season – former boss Slaven Bilic deemed him “” – but he’s barely getting a look-in this term and, with his contract up in the summer and one of the highest salaries at the club, it may be best for all parties if he moved on.
He now looks set to return to the club where he scored 45 goals in 75 league starts between 2013 and 2016, and given they’re just a few points above the Championship bottom three, he could certainly give them enough quality to climb further up the table.
